Research Projects

The portfolio of research projects at EPFL Architecture comprises a diverse range of projects at the intersection of ecological emergency, social injustice, digitalization, and urban sustainability. Transcalar and Transdisciplinary projects unite multiple experts, labs, and areas to devise holistic solutions, and are typically sponsored by national and international research programs (NRP, Sinergia, Innosuisse Flagship, ERC, Horizon, etc.). Cross-institutional projects foster ENAC-based research collaborations between architecture, engineering, and environmental science. Lab-based projects feature funded research projects that delve deep into specific areas of study related to the labs’ foci. PhD and master's research projects offer theoretical and empirical advancements as part of dissertations and thesis projects. Finally, studio-based research projects enable students to speculatively examine specific design briefs that align with our research imperatives.
